[ARCHIVED] 2014 Slurry Seal Project No. 56058

sign

The Town of Atherton has contracted American Asphalt for the 2014 Slurry Seal Project. The contractor purpose is to provide a slurry seal on your street.

A slurry seal is a two part process that is only required once every 5 years: the first part is placing sealant along the cracks in the existing pavement, which can be driven on within an hour of installation. The second part is placing sealant over top of the existing pavement, which will require a full day road closure.

If you will need your vehicles on the day planned for the sealant and do not plan to leave until after 8 AM, you need to make arrangements to park your vehicles outside of the project area prior to 8 AM. The contractor is allowed to close up to 1,000 feet of street, so residents may need to walk up to 1,000 feet to access their parked vehicles. Residents and their visitors will be able to drive to their property after 5 PM on the day sealant is applied to streets.

Weather permitting, the whole project will start on Wednesday, June 4th and the completion date is Thursday, July 3rd. Work hours are between 8 AM – 5 PM. As we get closer to the planned project date, the contractor will provide you a seven (7) day notification flyer and a forty-eight (48) hour notification that will be hung near your intercom box or on your gates detailing the specific dates that your particular street will be closed for roadway work. You may also check on the Town’s website for the same information including the construction schedule located under the “Current Projects” heading at www.ci.atherton.ca.us.

During this time, you may experience some delays, traffic detours, and roadway detours. After receiving your seven (7) day notification, please remember to make arrangements with your estate staff (gardener, pool company, housekeeper) regarding any special access requirements. Garbage service for that day will not be affected, but may be picked up earlier than normal.
