[ARCHIVED] Storm Updates

Public Works Staff at Holbrook Palmer Park

The National Weather Service indicates that more storms are coming our way. Our area is expecting rain this weekend with moderate to heavy rain starting on Monday, January 8, 2023 through Tuesday, January 10, 2023. While we continue to recover from the recent storms, we may experience additional localized flooding, standing water on roadways, falling trees, and power outages.

To stay safe as the rain continues, please check the Town's resource page for emergency preparedness actions, property maintenance tips, and the latest updates including road closures: https://www.ci.atherton.ca.us/653/January-Storm-Preparedness

Additionally, residents are invited to pick up sandbags before more rain comes to town. Sandbags are available at the self-service station at Holbrook-Palmer Park in the rear parking lot past the Pavilion by the tennis courts at 150 Watkins Avenue. Limit to 5 per household.

Our Public Works Team is pictured clearing paths and the Atherton Channel at Holbrook-Palmer Park. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of drier days for property maintenance that can prevent future flooding and falling trees, including:

  1. Cleaning leaves and debris that may have fallen on property or on the frontage strip in front of property.
  2. Clearing drains and restoring property frontage to fill any ruts and allow for proper drainage.
  3. Assessing trees for risk and maintaining as appropriate.
