[ARCHIVED] PG&E TO INSTALL NEW LED LIGHT FIXTURES TO DISTRIBUTION POLES IN TOWN BEGINNING NEXT WEEK

PGE new LED.png

PG&E will be upgrading their company owned street lights (called distribution) in the Town of Atherton to LED streetlights beginning as early as next week (6/27/2016). A distribution light is easily identified as those that are attached to a wooden power pole. This service will be provided free of charge to the Town. LED street lighting is 50-75% more efficient than high pressure sodium lighting.
The Town has plans to upgrade many of their own lights (lights on steel poles) to energy efficient LED in the upcoming year. PG&E has about 230 of these lights throughout Atherton. Not only will this conversion save the Town money on their monthly energy bill, it is estimated to save 56,304 kWh of energy annually. Once PG&E performs this conversion across their entire territory, the savings of 50,000,000 kWh are estimated!
Residents will receive a letter from PG&E this week advising them of the project. Each installation is expected to take approximately 10 minutes or less. PG&E will not need access to your property and you do not need to be present when this work is performed. How can you learn more?
If you have any questions about this work, please contact your local Customer Outreach Specialist, Chantelle Lamm at 650-598-7308 or send an email tostreetlightupgrade@pge.comPG&E will make every attempt to respond to your inquiry within one to two business days. The Town highly recommends you view their online webpage for this project at for more information at pge.com/streetlightupgrade
