Scheduled Adult Mosquito Control Treatments:
Atherton and unincorporated San Mateo County, Thursday, August 4th, 2016.
In response to the discovery of adult mosquitoes carrying West Nile Virus, truck-mounted adult mosquito control treatment is scheduled for areas of Atherton and unincorporated San Mateo County. Treatment will begin after 9pm on Thursday, Aug. 4th and will conclude by 5am Friday morning, Aug. 5th, 2016.
The treatment area, which is primarily residential, includes areas of Atherton and unincorporated San Mateo County. It is approximately bounded by Hull Ave. to the west, Alameda de las Pulgas to the south, Camino Al Lago to the east, and Austin Ave. to the north. Residents with additional questions can call the District at (650) 344-8592 Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
Mosquitoes will be collected in the area after the treatment is complete. If post-treatment mosquito samples are carrying West Nile Virus, additional adult mosquito control treatments may be necessary.
Reports of dead birds are an early indication that West Nile virus is circulating in the environment. Residents are encouraged to help by reporting fresh carcasses of birds or tree squirrels to the West Nile virus hotline, online at www.westnile.ca.gov or by phone at 877-WNV-BIRD (877-968-2473).
