On Tue, Feb 6, 2018 at 10:00 AM, the Menlo Park Fire Protection District and the Atherton Police Department will test the Walsh Road Emergency Siren. This is an annual test.
The siren is installed at the Cal Water facility on Reservoir Road. The siren alerts nearby residents if they need to evacuate. There are two siren patterns:
- Continuous Siren - Fire Evacuation
- Intermittent Siren - Dam Breach / Flood Evacuation
The siren is one notification method for such emergencies. The Office of Emergency Services would also send an alert using SMCAlert. Registered SMCAlert users will receive a notification approximately 15 minutes prior to Tuesday's test.
