The link below will provide you with the San Mateo County Mosquito and Vector Control District Report for September 2013. Below are updates to the ongoing eradication work on the invasive Yellow Fever Mosquito (Aedes aegypti):
* An Aedes aegypti was identified in Holy Cross Cemetery, Menlo Park on August 22, 2013. The mosquitoes are being monitored and controlled on an ongoing basis.
* The District has now found the mosquito at 20 properties surrounding the cemetery out of 1,000 door to door inspections. 200 properties were found to be breeding sites for other types of mosquitoes.
* CERT Community Emergency Response Team with 100-200 volunteers will meet on November 2 at Fire Station #4 at 9AM-3:30PM in order to distribute up to 3,000 Door Hangers (Public health Advisory). One District Technician per CERT team will be available to inspect properties at the request of homeowners. Public Information Officers will also be present.
* An Aedes aegyti was found on a property in Menlo Park at the corner of Valparaiso and Lemon across the street form Atherton. Parts of Atherton will be included in the CERT/ SMCMVCD exercise on Nov.2.
