Dear Residents:
In the event of a regional disaster or local emergency,
quick efficient notification to our residents with clear and accurate
information is the key to keeping you and your family safe. One of the best ways to receive regional
emergency notifications is from the San Mateo County (SMC) Emergency Alert System. The best way to receive local emergency notifications
is from the Town of Atherton’s Newsflash alert system. These alerts can be received via cellular
phone, email, text, Facebook, and Twitter.
To sign up for the SMC Emergency Alert System go to the
following link:

To sign up for the Atherton local Newsflash alerts go to
the following link, use your email address to sign in, then select ALERTS for
the Police Department:

Currently only about 900 Atherton residents are signed up
to receive SMC Emergency Alerts. Only
about 1,200 residents are signed up to receive Atherton Police Department
Newsflash Alerts. As a community of very
engaged residents, I know we can and need to do much better than this in order
to be prepared.
For the safety and security of you and your family, I
strongly encourage you to sign up to receive SMC Emergency Alerts and Atherton
Newsflashes today. If you are already signed up, tell a friend to sign up...This will allow
your Police Department and the San Mateo County Office of Emergency Services to
help best protect and serve you in time of emergency and disaster.
Sincerely,
Chief Steven D. McCulley
