Atherton Police Detectives arrested Valdemar Gabriel DaRocha for being in violation of California Penal Code sections 460(b) PC – Burglary and 496 – Possession of Stolen Property.
In summary, this case began back in December of 2018 when Encinal School was burglarized. During the burglary, approximately $14,000 worth of Apple iPads and Apple MacBooks were stolen. Two Apple iPads were returned to the Atherton Police Department by persons who purchased them from DaRocha via his Facebook account. All other stolen items had been sold by DaRocha.
A Search Warrant through Facebook, along with investigative contacts and statements, led investigators to DaRocha.
On 02/14/2019 at approximately 11:20am, Detectives arrested DaRocha (an 18-year-old San Jose resident) in San Jose at the corner of North Jackson Avenue and Bluejacket Way. DaRocha was booked into the San Mateo County Jail.
The Atherton Police Department does not believe that DaRocha was involved in the recent spree of residential burglaries.
