[ARCHIVED] Community Meeting held November 18, 2019

Color Police Star

On November 18, 2019, the Atherton Police Department hosted a community meeting which was attend by over 80 residents.  The main theme of the meeting was “Get Ready.”  Get Ready for emergencies/disasters, and to protect your family and property to help prevent burglaries and car break ins.

With the threat of earthquakes, wild land fires, and now planned power outages to prevent fires, it is very important that you and your family have emergency plans in place.  This includes being prepared to be on your own for up to 7 days, being prepared to evacuate your family on very short notice, and the importance of having an emergency survival kit in each of your cars.  The link below for the Atherton Disaster and Preparedness Team (A.D.A.P.T) website has all of the necessary information and resources for you and your family to plan and prepare for emergencies and disasters.

We are about to enter the holiday season which means we are also entering in to that time of year when police agencies across the county see a rise in residential burglaries, thefts, and car break ins.  The main focus of the community meeting was to inform and educate residents on what they can do, and what they really must do to protect themselves and to assist the police department in helping prevent burglaries, thefts,  and car break ins in our Town.  Our most effective partner in fighting, deterring, and preventing crime is you.  The link on the Town's website below provides access to the Police Department’s community meeting PowerPoint presentation.  This presentation is full of information and suggestions to help keep your family and property safe, while also assisting your Police Department team at the same time.
