[ARCHIVED] Naming and Donation Opportunities

New Road

Dear Atherton Resident,

As an Atherton Resident, your City Council invites you to become a part of Atherton’s history. Our new Town Center project is by far the largest undertaking in our Town’s 97-year history and it is well underway! It is such an historic event we want to make sure that you are a part of it. The Council has identified 20 Naming Opportunities connected to this project. We invite you to consider investing in one of these. Your donation could enable the Town to avoid $7 million of short-term financing to bridge the revenue flow gap during construction. The Opportunities have various ranges with the most significant being the ability to name the new road that will connect Fair Oaks Lane to Ashfield Road and run next to the new Town Center.

Your 100% tax-deductible donation to the Town Center project will give you the opportunity of having your family’s name, or the memory of a loved one, within the new Town Center and Library areas. To see more detail on each Opportunity; i.e., location and graphic image, and to learn how to make your donation, please visit the Town’s website at www.ci.atherton.ca.us/donations.

Naming_OpportunitiesTo fully pay for the project, the Town has identified sufficient funds, including the use of unrestricted General Funds and $7 million of proposed short-term financing. Many residents have already made donations totaling more than $5 million and each donor will get full credit for their prior donations towards any new donation level.

Construction is moving along at a brisk pace with all of the underground utilities completed. We are on schedule and on budget. If you are interested in a site tour, please contact Marty Hanneman at mhanneman@ci.atherton.ca.us. Alternatively, you can check the Town’s website for weekly updates. There is also a live onsite webcam to see the construction!

We are very excited to see this long-awaited new Town Center and Library come to life. The projected opening is Fall 2021. Thank you to those who have already helped sponsor this project and thank you all for any consideration now or in the future! Any contributions received after we obtain our short-term funding will be used to retire our obligations earlier than planned.

Sincerely,

Atherton City Council

Vice Mayor Elizabeth Lewis
