This week, the Atherton Police Department received reports of two residential burglaries.  Information about the two burglaries is as follows:

1. Sometime between 12/14 (at 1:30 PM) and 12/15 (at 9AM), an unknown suspect(s) burglarized a residence on the 200 block of Polhemus Avenue (near Alameda De Las Pulgas).  The unknown suspect(s) climbed to the second story of the home and forced entry into the master bedroom by breaking the balcony door window.  The burglar alarm was functioning, but only armed on the first floor.  At this time, nothing has been reported stolen.

2. Sometime between 12/7 (2pm) and 12/14 (2pm), an unknown suspect(s) burglarized a residence located on Atherton Oaks Lane (near Valparaiso Avenue).  The unknown suspect(s) entered the second story master bathroom by smashing the glass door.  The suspects were able to use a ladder that was already in the victim's backyard.  At this time, the victim is unsure, what, if anything was taken.  Further investigation revealed that the burglar alarm at this residence activated on December 9th at approximately 6:11PM.  The victim, who was off-site, received notification of the alarm activation (from the alarm company), but believing it was a false alarm, cancelled  a police response.
