Holbrook-Palmer Park Construction Parking Lot Lighting Replacement


Beginning Monday October 4, 2021, construction activities will begin to replace the parking lot lights at Holbrook-Palmer Park with new poles and more efficient LED light fixtures. The parking spaces neat the existing lights will be intermittently closed to allow for construction and related activities. The expectation is that the majority of work will be completed by the end of October 2021.

On October 19th, Sustainable San Mateo County invites guest to a virtual 2021 Indicators Report Launch event.

This will be the 25th Indicators Report monitoring and helping to accelerate sustainability progress for the last twenty five years. The event will feature a panel discussion on solutions to the housing crisis. Panel includes Rick Bonilla, Deputy Mayor, San Mateo; Diana Reddy, Council Member, Redwood City and Matt Franklin, Chief Executive, Mid Peninsula Housing. It's free, but you must preregister here to join.

COVID-19 Vaccinations Encouraged 


The Town of Atherton strongly encourages every resident in Town, as well as all of our Town staff, to GET VACCINATED for the COVID-19 virus, if health and personal religious beliefs permit it. The Town presently requires all visitors and staff wear a face covering when inside public facilities. 

Vaccine Boosters:

  • Pfizer boosters are available at local pharmacies and private health facilities as well as all County-Operated community clinics.
  • Four mass vaccination events are scheduled at the Event Center (1346 Saratoga Drive, San Mateo) for those 18 years and older at least six months after their second dose of the Pfizer vaccine.
    • Thursday, Oct. 7, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
    • Friday, Oct. 8, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
    • Tuesday, Oct. 12, noon to 7 p.m.
    • Wednesday, Oct. 13, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Additional booster clinics may be scheduled according to demand.
  • Appointments are encouraged through MyTurn.
  • Those eligible for Pfizer boosters will be asked to self-attest to their eligibility, which is described here.

Resident Volunteer Patrol (RVP) Program

 The Atherton Police Department is pleased to announce the establishment of the Atherton Police Department’s Resident Volunteer Patrol (RVP) program.  The RVP program is a community-based crime prevention program exercising proactive law enforcement principles.

The program is designed to provide supplemental detection and reporting of suspicious persons and activities to the Atherton Police Department. The RVP program is composed of civilian volunteers who are residents of Atherton and want to interact with and serve their community alongside the Atherton Police Department.

A.D.A.P.T Emergency Tips


Make sure to store a large amount of water, just in case water services are disrupted by a disaster. Experts recommend storing a 7-day supply of water for each person in your household. This equates to, for example, a 40-pack of bottled water for each household member.

Caltrain Construction Updates - October 2 to October 8, 2021

No work anticipated this week in Atherton. 

Menlo Park

On October 2 to October 8, Caltrain will be working during the day to prune and remove trees along the project route. Day work hours will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.  

During work hours at the Menlo Park station all passengers will board and de-board from the same platforms. Please look for the signs to indicate which platform to use. If you have any questions, feel free to call Caltrain Customer Service at 1.800.660.4287.
