Weather Updates + Tree and Debris Clean-Up

Storm prediction is relatively light over the next few days with another weather pattern moving in early next week. However, with the numerous downed trees in Town there remains clean up on both public and private property.  The Town has authorized storm related tree work to continue into the weekend if needed to clear debris and hazards from roadways and power lines. Survey your property now to determine if there are branches or trees that appear to be failing. These should be cleared to prevent damage to life or property.

If you are doing work this weekend to remove debris and clear dead/dying trees that may be a hazard, please reach out the Police Department to advise Dispatch - 650-752-0500.

If you need to speak to the Town about removal of other trees, reach out to Sally Bentz, Town Arborist by email atsbentz@ci.atherton.ca.usor visit the Town's website for details regardingtree removal.

Goodwill Donation Drive at the Love Our Earth Festival

This year, our Annual Earth Day celebration includes a way to give back while keeping items out of the landfill. Take action this Earth Day by bringing items in good and gently used to condition to the Love Our Earth Festival on April 22 from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. You can drive right up to the truck in the Menlo-Atherton Parking lot at 555 Middlefield Road and Goodwill employees can help you lift heavier items. Once you've sent your items off to a new life, park and enjoy the rest of the festival including 20+ food vendors, live music from Bay Area musicians Cook 'N Fenny Combo and Deborah Levoy, and animal experiences from the Lizard Lady and Humane Society. Check out our Eventbrite for the full schedule of activities.

Apply to Serve on a Committee!

Advisory bodies, such as the Town's Committees, are an essential element in local government that serve the community by examining important issues, collecting input from the public, and assisting with the development of work plans and projects to support city council goals. Each week, we will be featuring one of our committees and different ways that you can get involved and have influence in the Town.

Rolling, Walking, and Being Active with Atherton's Bicycle and Pedestrian Commitee

Do you bike, walk, or roll around Town? Are you interested in promoting biking and walking? Consider applying to be a member of the Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee. This Committee has the following responsibilities:

a. Work with staff in providing advice and recommendations on all matters relating to bicycle and pedestrian facilities.
b. Make recommendations to the City Council on the selection of bicycle and pedestrian projects to be submitted for state and federal funding opportunities.
c. Promoting bicycling and walking as safe and healthy alternative modes of transportation.
d. Assist Town staff in the planning, operations and maintenance of bicycle and pedestrian facilities in the community.

Attend their next meeting on Tuesday, March 28 to see for yourself what it's all about! See the Agenda here: Bike and Pedestrian Committee Agenda

There is one vacancy, so if the work of the committee is interesting to you, consider applying. Review how to here: https://www.ci.atherton.ca.us/138/Committees-Commissions

Did you know?

The SamTrans ECR Route connects Atherton along El Camino Real. If you take this route or any other, SamTrans needs your help to improve its bus stops!

SamTrans wants to hear about your experience using bus stops and learn what improvements—such as seating, shelter, real-time bus arrival information, and trash cans—are most important to you. Your input will help SamTrans develop the Bus Stop Improvement Plan (BSIP), which will create new bus stop design guidelines and establish a process with local governments to improve bus stops throughout the SamTrans service area.

Take SamTrans' 5-minute survey here.
