Improving Traffic Signals Along Middlefield RoadThe Town, in cooperation with Menlo Park, was awarded grant funding and support from the Metropolitan Transportation Commission to review and update the signal timing and coordination along Middlefield Road from Marsh Road to Ringwood Avenue. Starting the week of May 15, the Town's signal maintenance contractor, Cal-West, will begin implementing the recommended timing changes. Thank you for taking time to drive carefully along Middlefield Road. These signal improvements aim to improve traffic for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians.

Celebrating Atherton's 100th BirthdayThe Town of Atherton turns 100 on September 12, 2023. You'll want to save the date for two celebrations: - September 12, 2023: Special Town Council meeting on September 12, 2023. Residents are invited to join the Town for a screening of a centennial video celebration and cake.
- September 24, 2023: Centennial Celebration at Town Center with exhibits, food, family activities, and tree giveaway
Leading up to those celebrations, each week in the Atherton Online, we are featuring icons, places, and historical moments that have made this Town the vibrant community that it is today. This week, the Town's Inventor, Leon Douglass is featured. View it here: https://www.ci.atherton.ca.us/DocumentCenter/View/11045/Centennial---Leon-Douglass-2?bidId=

What to do if your pet is lostBecoming separated from your pet can be very scary, and it’s important that you act quickly to search for your animal. If you have lost your pet, please as soon as possible visit our shelter at 12 Airport Blvd in San Mateo during open hours (Monday to Friday 11am – 7pm and Saturday to Sunday 11am – 6pm. Closed most holidays.) Peninsula Humane Society staff will ask you to complete a lost report and take you through the kennels to see if your pet is at the shelter. If you have lost an animal and cannot visit right away, please call 650-340-7022 for help. Stray animals are held for the state mandated four-day period (excluding the day they arrive) before being evaluated for adoption. Some more tips to consider if you’ve lost your pet: - Post fliers in the area where your pet was lost.
- Search your neighborhood and talk to your neighbors to let them know your pet is lost.
- Post on social media sites with information about your lost animal.
- It’s also very important to make sure your animal is microchipped and that the microchip information is up to date.
