Civic Center Construction Award

The Town is excited to announce that on March 6, 2019, the City Council awarded the bid for the Civic Center Project to S.J. Amoroso Construction, Inc. for $44,177,000. The Council also selected the Add Alternate for the Project to construct the Council Chambers/Emergency Operations Center at $2,900,000. 

The Project consists of two separate facilities - the new Library and Renovated Historic Town Hall and the new Administrative, Community Development and Police Building with a new Council Chambers/Emergency Operations Center. The total project cost was awarded at $47,077,000. The Engineer's Estimate for the project, as awarded was $50,155,000. It is anticipated that construction of the project will occur over three to four fiscal years, including the current fiscal year. Groundbreaking for the project will occur toward the end of April 2019 with work beginning in May 2019. Assuming the project moves along as anticipated, the Project will open at the end of FY 2020/21 or beginning of FY 2021/22.   Read on.....

Atherton Police Academy

Calling all Applicants....

The Citizens' Police Academy is a one-day citizen engagement program that is designed to provide Atherton residents with first-hand information about how their Police Department works. Training will be in an “academy setting” with a few hands-on exercises designed to give the participant a more realistic sense of what it’s like to work as a peace officer.  Participation in the Academy requires a commitment of one full day and early evening (7:00 am – 7:00 pm). The Academy will occur on May 18, 2019, at the Holbrook-Palmer Park Pavilion (150 Watkins Avenue). Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided for participants. Additional Info...

Middlefield Road Construction

PG&E Middlefield Road Gas Distribution Pipeline Replacement 

PG&E crews will replace the existing gas distribution main along Middlefield Road from Eighth Avenue in Unincorporated San Mateo County, through Atherton to Ringwood Avenue in Menlo Park with new materials. The project is scheduled to begin Monday, March 11, 2019, weather permitting, and is scheduled to be completed by the end of September. In order to perform the work safely and as quickly as possible, there will be lane shifts and lane closures during construction. Please use caution while driving through the area.

Atherton FREE Recycle and Compost Pick Up Event

Mark your Calendars...

The Town's very popular Annual Free Recycling Event will be held on Saturday, March 30 from 10 am to 1 pm. The event will be held in the parking lot directly behind the Police Department - Corner of Dinkelspiel Lane and Fair Oaks. 

As usual, the Town will accept a maximum of three standard bankers boxes of paper for secure on-site destruction, and unlimited E-Waste Drop Off items as long as they fall within the acceptable items listed on the poster below. 

Additionally, the Town will offer all residents up to 1 cubic yard of compost (equivalent to six full garbage bags). Bring your own shovels and bags PLEASE. Hope to see you there!
